I'm losing a lot of hair. Could it be from dieting for such a long time?

I am kind of feeling the same about weighing this month too! I think january will be better. I have 3 different Christmas dinners to go to this month and I think I have hit a point where I am tired of depriving myself. I have done this for 6 months so 1 month isn't gonna do me in.

Tru did you figure out what was wrong with your comp? My Laptop has a tendency to go off line even tho I am connected to the internet. Try going into the tools at the right side of the screen towards the top, click it and scroll down to where it says work off line. If it has an X next to it then it is ok but if it is a check mark then click on it to get back online. Hope this helps.

That doesn't sound right! Are you missing a certain vitamin in your diet? Vitamin E is suppose to be good for the skin and hair. If it's coming out a lot then you might want to see a Dr.

This is actually a normal stress response to dieting.

There are supplements that are supposed to help. Biotin is one that is supposed to help hair, nails and skin.

I totally agree with seeing your doctor if it doesn't stop or slow way down.

The surgeon that is going to do my weight loss surgery said that losing your hair means you are not getting enough protein in your diet.

Hair loss is a serious matter that should be discussed with your doctor.
With that being said why is it that you never lose that hair from your armpits or your legs? Shaving less often would be a blessing but oh no its always the beautiful hair on your head that goes first.

LOL! I am SO with you on this one!

Missy, did the doctor happen to say how much protein is necessary to keep from losing hair?

Missy, did the doctor happen to say how much protein is necessary to keep from losing hair?
Yes. He said the minimum amount of protein a person should be consuming is 60 grams. If you consume more than 70 grams you are getting too much and it will just be peed out. So sticking to that 60 grams is a great thing to do. My nutritionist at the hospital also said the same thing about protein. It takes a couple months (according to the nutritionist and the surgeon) to reverse the hair loss caused by the lack of appropriate amount of protein. So, trying to keep that good level of protein is very very important.

That is actually very easy to do. Every serving or ounce of protein is 7 grams of protein. So an egg is 7 grams or a 3 ounce piece of chicken is 21 grams but most serving sizes of protein are in the 4-6 oz range so that would be 28-42 grams. Make sense?
