We are playing with windchills right now about -15* (4:15 CST) and by tomorrow morning it should be around -15* out with windchills around -30 - -40*, so I went into the freezer and dug out some venison stew meat and whomped up the best darndest soup I have ever made, tomatoes, peas, carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, mushrooms and venison. I took out the potatoes and pigged out! And now I am having me a nice glass of wine - to keep my innards nice and warm.

Good Morning - it is -14* and I just had to tell you that if anyone wants the recipe for Jager Beef Soup, I will gladly share it. It was delicious. Had two bowls, sans potatoes. Practically calorie free. My husband loved it too. Enjoy the day! Edie

The sky is so beautiful. OK, back to sewing. Edie

Oh my I don't know how you do it with wind chills like that! When our temps start to get below freezing my arthritis really kicks up and I can barely walk. I think I would be bedridden at those temps.

Edie I would love to have your recipe!

Good morning everyone. No news on James this morning. Bless his heart! It would take divine intervention now for them to find him alive. I hate to say that and sound so negative but reality is setting in. I just wish they would find his body so his parents, siblings and grandparents can put closure to this horrible ordeal. However, rescue teams are still out searching for him. Your prayers are so appreciated. Please continue to pray! Thank you so much.

On the note of dieting..... I want a baby ruth candy bar so bad. I am glad I have NO chocolate or anything sweet in my house. I can't just run to the store as I work from home. My office in Jax, FL is having some work done on the main server so I had to shut my computer down this morning. I have physical therapy this afternoon so I have most the day to mentally psych myself to pass right by the stores and not stop for a baby ruth. I keep telling myself they are full of maggots. Gross, but I'm trying to convince myself I don't want one.

i best log back into my work computer. I hope you all have a Blessed day. Big hugs to all, Sandy

    Thank you! Here goes:

Jager Beef Soup (Jager is German for Hunter (pronounced Yeager)

    2t vegetable oil
1 large sweet yellow onion, chopped
    1 large green pepper chopped
#2 top sirloin, or whatever (we use Venison)
2 - 28 oz. cans diced tomatoes with juice
    1 - 12 oz. can tomato paste
    5C beef stock
    3C water
3 potatoes - peeled and cut into 1/2" pieces
3 carrots - peeled and sliced into 1/2" pieces
2 stalks celery - cut into 1/2" pieces
1 small can bits and pieces mushrooms with juice
Handful of frozen peas (if desired)
    3T paprika
    1t black pepper
    1/8t crushed red pepper

In a large Dutch oven or stock pot, heat oil. Cook onion and green pepper for five minutes. Add beef. Brown on all sides. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer til carrots are tender. Add the potatoes about 45 minutes before serving. Let it simmer nice and slow. Take the top off once in a while so too much condensation will not drip into the pot. Check for tenderness of potatoes. It tastes even better the second day!!!!

Season to taste. I serve it with soft bread sticks and dunk them in the soup. Please to enjoy!!!!! Edie
