Wheat is a grain that looks very much like barley or fat rice. I use it just like rice. White rice really sends my blood sugar up, so I have to use brown rice. It is expensive so I started mixing the grains of wheat or barley with the rice. I cook it just like I cook wild rice. After it is cooked, I add tomato sauce and seasonings to make Spanish rice.

I really like Zateran's rice mixes, but one box doesn't go very far. With 10 kids I have always looked to extend things a little further. I just add more rice to the cooking process. If I want, I can add other grains that look like rice and my kids don't know the difference. I used to make chili using TVP and wheat instead of the meat. It made chili a really cheap dinner.

I've seen barley in with the bean section at the grocery store, but never wheat.

Do you buy the wheat at a health food store or the market?

I buy all my grains, sugar, cereal, etc. at Honeyville Grain. I get them in 25 pound bags.

Good for you Gal. With both hands holding fabric, it is really hard to put anything in your mouth. I do that too.

Hi Gwyn, yes, not to mention the fact that you could spill food on it which could stain your beautiful quilt!

I also wanted to mention that I am trying to cut out all processed food from my diet, just keep to good old fashioned meat veg and fruit! When ever I want a snack or a treat I try to make it a fruit snack. I have good days and bad like everyone else, quite a good day today but 'weakened' on my hubby's homemade 'Bread and Butter Pud'!!! It is so yummy I couldn't help myself,...... will go without supper in order to enjoy that!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well tomorrow is another day!

I want to cut out the processed food. So many preservatives. My difficulty is really a lack of exercise. I just don't like it. I don't like to walk or swim, aerobics weight lifting, I can't find anything I really like to do. So, I really need to get something going in the up and moving department.

Good morning everyone. I don't think anyone really likes to exercise. I keep repeating myself every month since I start this weight loss challenge ..............PILATES............there is no excuse not to do them. I have explained the concept and how the exercises were invented. I don't care that you might have a bad back or knees or shoulder there is no excuse absolutly no excuse to not exercise. With pilates you don't have to get out of bed or your chair. You don't sweat and IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today DD even though it is a holiday had to meet her doc bright and early this morning for more saline to be filled into her balloons. With the injury she has had and the surgery she just went through the doc told her she should start doing pilates. Now if my daughter was told she could do them there is NO reason in the world you can't do them. So if anyone says they can't exercise that is just an excuse because if you REALLY wanted to exercise there is nothing stoping you. For what it costs for a yd of fabric you could get a resistance band and start with that. Nothing fancy and it will work wonders.

OK I am done with my rant!!!!!!!!!!!!
