I agree, Carol. It is so hard watching my husband eat and eat and eat all those snacks and sweets. It makes me feel just terrible because I want those things too - but that is how I got in this mess. Guess it is not fair for us to expect them to give those things up. But it sure makes it hard.

Well, I haven't been walking yet (bad knee) but I am going to give it a try and see how it goes. Just a short walk to start. I did work in my garden for a couple hours today but then it just got to hot...yes that's right 91 degrees here today. I still feel the effects of bending over and pulling weeds. Guess that's something.

My entire life I could never eat breakfast. When the kids were young I would cook them breakfast everyday. I would make farina or oatmeal, sausage and eggs, good healthy and COOKED. As they were sitting at the table I would think to myself how in the world could they eat as soon as they get up. Now however I try and have something within an hour of getting up. Yogurt with fruit or cereal but the easiest is a smoothie. Milk, fruit, yogurt, wheat germ and molasses. I can drink in the morning and it doesn't make me feel sick. I LOVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEE breakfast for dinner, pancakes, bacon, eggs homefries. Give me breakfast for dinner anyday. If I watch my food intake I still can have breakfast for dinner even on a diet.

I agree that when my DH brings in the snacks and taunts me with them, it is really hard to not nibble!!! He knows that I'm trying to lose weight but it's almost like he is trying to sabbotage my efforts! I might have a little taste but as we all know that after the 'little taste' it can turn into handfuls.

I haven't been exercising yet as we have had a very busy weekend with relatives but hopefully I can step it up next week! :)

I can't eat right away in the morning either - doesn't feel right.

Is anyone trying any special 'diets' or 'strategies'?

I was thinking of South Beach but my friend is going to WW and suggested I go with her - I think there is a special on right now - Don't know if I will go.

I've been on Adkins since May 1st. Very low carb. No bread, potatoes, pasta (I'm dying for spaghetti), rice, sweets except sugarless. Getting ready to go on vacation on Sat. I plan on doing modified Adkins then. Haven't lost near as well as I did when I went on it several years ago. I have 100 lbs. to lose, tho, so I don't want to lose it too fast. I want it to STAY gone.

I also have 100 pounds to lose. I am hoping to hang in because I know it will take a long time. I've done ok this first week but I know that most of that is water. Have a great vacation.

I've lost weight and I know it is water weight, but it gives me a sense of "I can do it." I think of each pound lost as a box of butter, it's a ugly visual as I lose more weight.
