Let's change the subject to weight loss and helping to support and motivate each other.

Let's start with breakfast! What do you eat for breakfast when you are on a weightloss diet?

I drink 8 oz of water when I wake up, have some green tea a short time later, and normally would have a cup of non fat yogurt with fruit, or a poached egg and orange slices (can't have this stuff on hcg diet).

For breakfast I have sometimes, Oatmeal with brown sugar splenda or Cream of wheat with splenda or a couple of eggs with laughing cow cheese or special k with almond milk. I ALWAYS have at least 3-4 servings of fruit with my breakfast. It is a big breakfast but that kick starts my metabolism for the day.

I snack on fruit and hard boiled eggs between meals if i am hungry.

Lunch is always heavy on the protein like salmon with steamed veggies or tuna veggies or chicken with veggies.

Dinner is where I consume carbs. I make a protein (like steak or chicken) and potatoes or whole grain pasta. Sometimes I make homemade ravioli with beef, cheese, and veggies as the filling and then a fresh tomato sauce on top. YUMMY-O!

Late day snacking is always fruit.

I always end up with about 60 grams of protein, 60 grams of carbs, and lots of veggies and fruits for the day.

So. That is how I do it. Apparently, according to my nutritionist, I am eating about 1600 calories a day.

So all this talk about prunes made me decide to stew some prunes to have with my yogurt tonight since we all know baked apples are out of the question. I put some prunes in a small pot with a little water, covered it and I left the kitchen to come here. A little time has past and I smell something burning, not unusal as many people have started to burn leaves. It is illegal yet they do it anyway. So I just kept looking around the board and a nice breeze is blowing in the window and I realized it didn't smell like smoke. So where is the smell coming from. I got up to check and I forgot about my prunes, they were burned to a crisp. Had to toss them now I have the burned pot soaking I think all the scrubbing in the world will not clean it. It was a nice small pot perfect for cooking cream of wheat or boiling a few eggs. If I can't get it clean I will be lost without it. It come in a set of Faberwear pots almost 30 years ago. I wonder if they sell the size anymore. I guess I will check amazon. What I liked is not only was it small it came with a lid now a days so many pots don't have lids.

    Sorry I am just babbling.
Oxyclean to the rescue! Fill the pot with water, put in a scoop of Oxyclean and wait about 30 minutes, scrub, repeat as needed.

I used to sell SS cookware. For burned pots we would tell people to put comet cleanser into the dry pot, wet a piece of brown paper bag and scrub, repeat if needed.

If the pot itself was burned through, it is not worth saving because the metal is now porous and detrimental to your health, so toss it.

A good place to find single pots is at Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, Home Goods, and Linen and Things.

    Diane
Ok so since you are the expert HELP the pot was burned along with the prunes. The inside though burned where I was able to clean is discolored and no longer shines, it is a dull blackish gray color kind of swirly. Oh it was SS. Should I just toss it????? How does a burned pot become porous and why is it determental to your health? I thought SS was SS through and through.
    thanks

    What is tops?

    Missy[/quote]

    Hi Missy

TOPS stands for taking pounds off sensibly and is a weightloss support group. Its almost like Weight Watchers but they don't force any diet on you and is a lot less expensive. You basically follow your own eating plan and go for weekly weigh in and meetings to discuss different weight loss things. Heres the web site http://www.tops.org/default.aspx
I just find knowing that I have a weekly weigh in keeps me more accountable and on track. :)
