A Wisconsin rule: Never, ever plant stuff until Memorial Day, no matter how tempting it is. Have been know to have snow in May, although rare. We are near freezing every night lately.
And this is sountheastern Wisconsin, which is relatively warmer than northern part of state.

No snow on Long Island.. I miss the snow.. The weather has been freaky... I had a winter jacket on, on Sunday.. It was a blessing.. We are having a major problem with the pollen, and the rain really helped..

It stuck in my part of WV, and it stuck on all of my annuals and perennials to the tune of about 4". I have a variety of aids out there including a bucket, three black trash bags and one overturned gift bag secured by two lg. rocks. I am afraid to go out there today and see if any survived the crushing weight.

We are getting snow here today also. Now, to be clear, I live in Northern Ontario where the winters can get a bit nasty but a month ago we had 28 degrees (celsius which is very warm). We have been golfing for almost a month (which has never happened this early here before). We were told this storm was on its way from the U.S. & guess what, we got it !!! The good thing - it won't last but snow is here & continuing until at least tomorrow morning.
