what about this Brother for FMQ?

$500 is a screamin' deal, I paid $800 new for mine. It is comparable to the Juki. I use it exclusively for FMQ but realized the other day, when I was doing a marathon sewing of cup sleeves, that I should have been using it since it sews twice as fast!!

I have this one. it is a fabulous machine that quilts very well and can stitch through layers of denim. It is the best machine that I have - even though I have more expensive ones. I wish it was only $500 over here.I got mine for $1,000.00 when it was marked down from $2500.00 7 years ago.It has 2 large and larger extra detachable tables to go with it as well and also a knee lift.

We've sat the machines side by side and they are pretty much equal in use and design. I have a 98TLQ for piecing and a 2010 on my frame and I think it's a pretty even machine. If you can get it for $500 I'd jump. Any chance you can sew with it prior to sale and make sure everything works?

I have this exact machine to do my FMQ and have it sitting in a large quilting cabinet so I have lots of room to spread my quilt. It is happy with lots of different threads for top and bottom but haven't tried any metallic threads. I really like my machine and try to keep something on it at all times.

I have one I have used on a New Joy Gold Standard quilting frame and have quilted lots and lots of quilts on it. When I upgraded to a LA, I'm keeping the machine and selling the New Joy. It is an awesome workhorse. Terrific for piecing and doing freehand quilting on small stuff. The price is good and I think that you will be happy with that machine.

I am lucky enough to own both the Brother 1500 and the Juki. Love the Brother for everything from peicing to free motion to heavy repair work. Regulal and reliable! The Juki is on the quilting frame and it can be fussy. When it works its wonderfull, but I don't find it as comfortable to work with as the Brother. For that price I would jump on it!
