My youngest left first, oldest never returned after college, and middle son left last so I was 44. Oh and DH said no swinging doors here. Make sure it is what you want.

I became an empty nester at 54, but a few years later the babies started coming, now we have baby toys, high chairs and starting all over with the kids thing...I love it much more than those teen years.... I have plenty of time for me and even though one daughter just lives 2 streets away and she is here A LOT...I am OK with her and I love the kids around. I can say no when I want now.

I was 40. Husband & I separated in March, oldest daughter got married in June, youngest daughter went to college in August. It was a rough year!

Youngest lived with me for a couple of years after college until she married 20 years ago.

62 and 69. We love it. Cooking grown up food, going out and not worrying where the kids have to be picked up at, clean bedrooms, living room remote in place. My I miss those girls.

I never had kids but when I got married 40 years ago I got an old lady. My DMIL. she was near 60 and I had her with us till she made 95. Bless her heart. I'm near 60 now! So I guess I became an EN at the age of 57.

I had twin sons and they both for college on the same day. I was 48 at the time. I thought I would love it, but I discovered that I had prepared them to leave but had not prepared myself for their leaving. I felt lonely and so empty without being needed as a mother and it took some time to get over that. One is married now with three young children and is only 100 miles away, and the other is in the Air Force in Alaska, 3600 miles away so I only see him about once a year.

I am almost 55, my 2 children still live with me with no plans of leaving. We really enjoy having them here. My son does the yard for us and other things that his daddy can no longer do. My daughter, she is my right hand. She helps me so very much. So nice having a stay at home daughter. I wouldn't change it for the world. So glad I will never be an empty nester.
