Woke up to sounds of the tv, dh was watching what happened 10 years ago today. For me it brought back such horrible memories of that day. I had to stop watching it about 11:30. Then went to a Meet the teachers event at LQS. Came home and watched tv for the rest of the day. It just wasn't a day for doing anything productive.

Today was DH and my 12th anniversary. We had a busy weekend and are heading out tomorrow for vacation, so we kept it low key tonight. 9/11 was our second anniversary and instead of going out to dinner as we'd originally planned that night, we stayed in and watched Peter Jennings all night. Tonight had a bit of a flashback- we were sitting down to eat some Chinese and watch a show, the tv came on with 9/11 anniversary coverage. Felt a bit like that night 10 years ago.

Had our weekly family dinner with the kids and grandkids then we all went to the Field of Flags for the final ceremony. It has been going since Thursday. There were some wonderful speakers, one being a well-spoken 16 year old young man whose family left Washington DC a month after 9/11. We bought Hero flags, with names on it, for ourselves and our two daughters. The ending of the ceremony was a cannon fired 13 times and Taps, which always makes me cry. There were 5200 flags displayed, one for each life lost on 9/11 and each life lost in the war on terror. We plan to attend every year they do this.

Went to Mass last night so I could watch the memorial ceremony this morning. Went to one of our Metro Parks this afternoon with my dd and walked on some of the paths. Tonight we had family gathering with pizza dinner.

I put out my 9-11 flag with the names of all those who gave their lives on that day...then this afternoon I went to my Grandsons 2nd birthday party, the one good thing about 9-11 is on the eighth anniversary I became a Grandma :)

I came home from a retreat. On the way home we stopped at a Pat Knochel (Elenore Burns sister) trunk show. Since I was at a retreat I didn't see any of the 9/11 coverage.

We had a lovely service at church today. Then I cam home and fixed lunch. Spent several hours working on a talk. Fixed dinner of sausage with milk gravy over hash browns. Now we are watching the replay of the Concert in NY. and enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

I enjoyed life today. I think that's one of the best things you can do on a day like this. Enjoy it and don't let fear prevent you from doing so.
