Yep....I grew up in Texas and my mom called the couch a "DIVAN" the fridge was an "ICE BOX" and as you said..we had breakfast, dinner and supper....that one kept me confused for years! As far as drinks...no matter what you drank....Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite..it was all called "Coke".... Like all petrolium jelly was called "Vaseline". Fun times!!

I'm of mixed heritage....mother, brother, and I are true Oregonians. My grandparents and father were southerners...We say a LOT of things that bug other people.

I call that thing in the dash - the car pocket (I'm always being corrected)
I say ya'll, down yonder, and call people sweetie.

    I also like sweetened tea...
Oh -- I don't call it soda or pop or cola...I call it PEPSI!!! LOL

I see her revert back to times when she was younger in a lot of things. Her speech for one. Fridgerator...Okrie...Down the road...warsh...arn...Shut the winder down. LOL Just thought of that. LOL I lower the window but she shuts the winder down. And Mom is just 74.LOL This topic has been so much fun. LOL

My grandparents called the couch (sofa) a davenport. The wash cloth or dish cloth was always called a wash rag :) And there was always the threat of "gettin a lickin"???...meaning a spanking. LOL

Does anyone remember 'macadem'? You drove on the dirt road or the macadem (sp?) - paved road.

Mom was born and raised in California but has always said she's doin' the warsh, going to Warshington, etc. I remember asking her to spell wash when I was a teenager to show her that there wasn't an "r" to pronounce and I think I can still taste the soap in my mouth! Now I live in the south and say ya'll, ask if the tea is sweet and remember to ask for pop when we travel North. Oh, and found out what a grinder is last summer, that sure had us stumped.

I grew up in Montana and the ditch beside the road was called the borrow pit, because they borrowed the dirt from the ditch to build the road.

Had a friend from England told me a lot of them, knock me up= meant wake me up. Keep your pecker up= meant keep your chin up.

Thanks for the memories!!! You just about covered all that I grew up with. The one I remember the best and fondest was when my Mom couldn't remember the name of what ever she wanted and it was always, 'Go get me the thingamagig on the whatchimacallit. You know what I mean!'
