See a good chriopractor for sciatica pain. I was not sure about first visit, WOW was I glad after the visit. Now I am a regular. A good chrio will tell if you can be helped.
Only use surgery as a last resort. Before surgery get a 2nd opinion, consider a Neuro surgeon. My sewing buddy went to neuro for second opinion her surgery insion is only than 2 inches. Recovery time about 2-3 weeks.

Herbel teas help me on restless night. Full moon is time to roam the house because I can't sleep.

Oh my, I'm not the only one allergic to Alleve! . Took it for two weeks, didn't notice anything until I woke up one morning with a whole body rash!! _ :( _ which proceeded to get worse, even after stopping the pills. I was out of work for two weeks because the skin on my hands was like leather and I couldn't bend my fingers. After everything peeled off, like a bad sunburn, I was okay.

WOW Beth! You took it for 2 weeks???? I took ONE pill, and 3 hours later we had to drive 50 miles to the hospital! SCARY, isn't it? They wanted to give me the standart Benedryl, but - I look Asian and my face gets full of welts! So ------ I am NOT a pill taker, and people always want me to try THEIR remedies - No Thanks!

I've had insomnia since I was 18, and have read that you should get up, do something for a while and try again.

Wow, I am so glad I am not alergic to Aleve. I Even take perscription Aleve, when I know I am going to be walking alot. I broke my tibia a couple of years ago and it keeps the pain and stiffness down around my knee, where i still have a lot of pain.

I enjoy being on the computer, reading quilt magazines and looking thru my cookbook collection.
I turn on the light and read....sometimes for quite awhile LOL

Ask your dr to prescrone neurontin. I had some left from when I had shingles. When I had sciatica that wouldn't quit I thought "hmmm shingles is nerve pain. Sciatica is nerve pain.". So I tried it and it works great! I told my friend and her dr gave her some. Works for her too.

Reading always helps, or I leave the TV on so low, I can barely hear it. Sometimes voices lull me to sleep. I have sciatica too and when it is aggravated, the slightest turn wakes me up.
I am going start a crocheted bedspread, so that will be my late night distraction.
And always, PRAY...that's where I find comfort.
