I can;t sleep due to osteoporious which was just diagnosed. Go to health food store and buy a can of "CALM" I use half a dose per doc and it really helps. I don;t think I;ve ever had anything so painful. I did have shingles when my son went to Vietnam but pain pills helped it.

    Hi Craftybear,

I hope your shot worked. I actually took up quilting to help with pain. Funny, huh? Its the piecing and getting up to press that helps. I keep my pressing board a step or two from the sewing table so I have to get up and down regularly.

When I couldn't rest I used to sew until I was too tired to sit up. Now it is the eyes!! I have to quit sewing when I can't see straight ... LOL

    Take care dear.

At times I wake up and can't sleep - not because of pain, just wake up. Sometimes I make that my prayer time. I guess I should be praying for all of you who wake up because of pain. I sympathize with you.

Pain is just plain dibilitating and irritating, isn't it? I didn't realize how many out there were suffering with the same condition. Do you think that we all have to learn our own personal "key" to cope with it. Maybe we all have the same pain, but ways of getting around it could all be different. Here's hoping we all find our answers!

Ever try rubbing in DMSO? I broke my ankle badly
some years ago, and in bad weather it hurts dreadfully.
I live alone and volunteer on mobil blood drives, which
    means a lot of walking.
I start out with 2 aspirins, then go to Tylenol, then very
reluctantly to the codeine based pain killers. Then when
the pain is really bad, I rub in DMSO, which I love. It
works nicely and immediately, but it does kinda make
you smell like you really do love eating fresh garlic. So
a lot of us have switched to one of it's off-springs, called
MSM. That is also wood extract, can be taken by mouth
in capsules, and is also said to be a good mineral addition
to the diet. But for me, the pain being soothed is worth
almost anything. It is to be taken long range, so perhaps
it would be the best. I do know that when I forget, run out
for some reason, gradually the pain in my ankle gets worse.

Once I was grilling some meat and reached in carelessly and
badly burned the back of my left hand. It was painful and I
was hunting my car keys to go to ER when I saw my bottle of
MSM so opened a capsule, ran water over my hand, then I
sprinkled the powder on the burn. By the time I had found my
car keys the pain was gone, so I continued that treatment.
To my surprise, even though I figured it was a second degree
burn, it did not leave a scar, just a slight light line on one
finger where it burned deepest. That doesn't matter, at age
76, I have lots of wrinkles and age spots, so one more doesn't
    really matter.

You could try this, it might or might not help you. Every human
body is different in some small way. What might help one, the
other won't be affected by it at all, or might even be allergic to it.

Just give it a try, start with the DMSO which is fast acting.
