I had the same problem last night. Something in the air in the Midwest? Eyes tried to sleep but kept popping open. Couldn't get comfortable in bed. Finally got up about 2:30, drank some water, took some Tylenol PM, did a couple chores that were nagging at me, read until about 3:30 and then went to sleep. Can you get regular Acetaminophen (generic for Tylenol)?
You can buy diphenhydramine HCL (generic for Benadryl) also and take them together. My label says 500 mg Acetaminophen and 25mg. of Diphenhydramine in one tablet. You can also get the diphenhydramine HCL in liquid form. We keep that in the house for treating mouth sores which trouble DH. He uses it as a swish and swallow at bedtime. Hope this helps. pgthom (stitcher and nurse)

I take the CALM shortly after supper. Have no trouble with depression and/or waking except to go to the bathroom. Its not a prescribed med but a health food store product. Works great for me as I have been diagnosed with Osterporious. Very painful tincan

We bought an expensive recliner last Thursday for when I can't sleep. I have used it twice, although I hadn't been trying to sleep and believe me I was asleep in no time. I woke up feeling great. I retire this Wednesday and I plan on using it often during the day for naps. Sometimes I fall right to sleep and after 30 min.s or so I just wake up and keep trying to go to sleep, I get up and watch TV, sometimes I will be able to go back to sleep. Usually I can't get asleep until 2 or 3 and have to get up a 5:30, sure makes for a sleepy day at work. I soon won't have to worry about that. I'm going to start exercising also and hope that helps too.

We haven't used our beds in over a year. Recliners seem to help 90% of the time. It breaks all the rules, we know, but sleeping in the recliner puts our body on a different angle and relaxes us more. Other than "mother nature" waking us up, we are more rested and have less interrupted sleep.

I eat a peanut butter sandwich and orange juice and read a while. It works wonders but don't know why.

I'm up too but not in pain. Just can't sleep. Tried reading for a bit and decided to check email and the board posts. Sorry you're in pain. After my surgeries, when I had a lot of pain during the nights, I'd listen to CD's on my walkman with headphones so not to disturb my husband and it really helped me a lot. Pain is no fun to deal with as you know all too well and the best we can do is try to get through but it sure does make those nights and some days seem like an eternity, doesn't it.

I want to walk and be outside, but that is not always a safe thing to do. So, if I'm not sewing, reading, or online, I sit as close to outside as I can be, whether it is in the yard, or next to our big windows, until my family, including dogs, get disturbed and make me go to bed.
