"I love decorating my Christmas tree...almost all the ornaments are homemade, either by me, or by friends, or are given to me as gifts...so many memories...made over 30 years +...and I think of so many people as I am doing the tree decorating...I play Christmas music and just really enjoy every minute I am hanging all the ornaments....looks very old fashioned."

ditto, here. My favorite time is telling the DGKs the stories of the ornaments that their Momma painted when she was a little girl

Please make a recording of your memories, just to keep or to share with others. It would make a great gift!!

I love it all...it is a time of so many memories. I remember where each ornament came from. Joe and I traveled a lot and we bought a lot of great "stuff" for Christmas. It makes him seem near when I unwrap them and hang them on the tree. My home is decorated(I got it done the day after Thanksgiving) and it looks so pretty and peaceful. It is a sweet time of reflection. I think about when the kids were small and all of the wonderful trips to get the tree, wonderful smells of Christmas baking, wrapping all the gifts, etc. It makes me smile and even cry a little...sweet sorrow. (I used to wonder what that meant...now I know!)

My dear MIL passed away 2 years ago. Just today I was decorating the house and I unpacked the stockings she had made for each of my children on their first Christmas. Those stocking were always loved but how hold a special significance for me.

I love getting my snowman collection out and decorating my mantle with them, fresh pine boughs and mini white lights. Kind of like seeing old friends after a long absence and just seeing their smiling faces makes me happy!

To tell you the truth, if the kids and grandkids didn't come for Christmas, we probably wouldn't put out any decorations. The problem is not in the decorating, but the taking down and packing away. It is just DH and myself now so we don't decorate for any of holidays anymore other than Christmas, and every year I put out less and less.

LIGHTS!!!! I love lots and lots of lights on my tree. I usually do around 1200 or morre on a 7 ft tree. My lights are never messy, I take several hours each new year carefully folding them up so that they are nice and neat the following year.
