I was watching "Leave it to Beaver" today and was thinking to myself, why cant the world be like this still.......

I know everyone knows the meaning behind my screen name (pretty evident if you ask me  ) but I really long for that time in history.

Of course the TV Land channel plays all of the good old programs like my favorite "Bewitched" (Elizabeth Montgomery was soooo beautiful),"Gunsmoke", and "Leave it to Beaver". And they usually play at least 3 or 4 programs of each in a row. There is another channel that plays the"Patty Duke Show" one after another "77 Sunset Strip" and the old westerns like "The Rifleman", "Lone Ranger" and "Sugar Foot".

But things were so much safer and nicer back then. I guess I was lucky being born in 1966 and got to experience some of the good times but I have always said I was several generations out of sync. I should have been a teen in the 40's so I could watch the birth of the hot rod industry and actually live when it was safe to be a kid!!

Um, actually, I thought your screen name had to do with Area 51. I thought Area 51 was the space aliens thing, but I just looked it up and that was Area 52. Area 51 was/is an Air Force base. Oh, well.

So what does your name stand for, lost in the '50s?

I'm pretty sure that life for most people wasn't anything like those tv shows, just like life for most of us isn't like the Cosby Show, Gilmore Girls or Sex and the City.
Maybe some things were safer, but there was also more accepted racism and sexism and options for a lot of people and women were very limited.

Wouldn't it be great if we could go back to the good old days?

as i was composing my response i realized that for everything i wish we could regain, there's something else i'm glad we've left behind.

too bad we can't pick, choose, and keep the good things from then and now AND eliminate or leave behind the bad from both.
