Nothing, we ate what was put in front of us. Besides Dad never fed us anything he didn't like.

That's what we had for dinner last night. Being anemic I hate taking pills so I get my iron elsewhere.

But for those of us who don't know the story, do tell!

Did anyone watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on TV tonight? What a hard situation he's up against! But honestly, how could he expect the kids to choose roast chicken and celery sticks over pizza? And did you notice the meal they finally liked was fajitas - good stuff, but very similar in the kids' eyes to the junk food they're used to.

I loved the teacher who went out and got vegetables to teach her class what they were.

I grew up on fresh milk and the cream just got mixed in unless my dad wanted it for his coffee. Now, it's "bad" for you b/c it's not homogenized and anitbiotics out the wazoo not is it pasteurized. I miss real whole milk and would drink it again in a heartbeat.

I hated spinach as a kid. My moms policy was you ate everything on your plate or you stayed there til you did. I would mix my spinach in my mashed potatoes and choke it down that way. Now I love spinach. My oldest DD would hide her peas under her plate and then go hide so she didn't have to eat them. She still hates peas.

When I was little, I would not touch coliflower. Wouldn't taste it, wouldn't hardly look at it. Why, you might ask. One of my older brothers told me it wasn't really a vegetable, but a brain! I was much older before I got that image out of my head. Now I love it cooked or raw. When my mom served something new, we had to try it, but were never forced to eat something we really didn't like. My mom hated oatmeal and was forced to eat it every morning, so she always swore she would never do that to us and she didn't. Yes, we ate what was on the table, but she really tried to make stuff that everyone could at least tolerate. But then none of us were really picky eaters, either.

    LOL, a brain, that's hilarious!

Cauliflower was one thing my mother never even had me try. I don't think she even made it when we had meals together. She always kind of ate it privately. Which was fine with me, because to me cauliflower (and broccoli) looked like some kind of alien life form, like it didn't even come from this Earth.

And now? They're two of my favorite vegetables.
