My eldest son is a musician, guitar, banjo, piano, harmonica. And he sings, gets that from me and my family. My father is an amazing singer. My mothers family were traveling gospel singers. My youngest son is a jewler, well wanna be right now, he starts his first jewling class next year during his senior year in high school. the local vocational school has set up the program just for him. He'll be the only student. My daughter is an artist but doesnt know it yet. She has designed some beautiful tatoos. Yep thats right tatoos. I myself dont care for tatoos but her work is really good. Wish she would do something with her drawing talent, shes deliving pizzas. And my honey he can do anything, right now hes building a canoe out of 3/4" x 17' strips of wood. Its very much like quilting, if you get that little bit off on your seams it adds up to a big mistake.

My DH preaches, plays and fixes guitars, sings, cooks. My oldest DD sings, youngest DD can draw and sing, oldest DS is learning to play guitar and sings, youngest DS plays basketball and baseball (don't know if he can sing because I haven't heard him doing it). I sing, sew clothes, crafts, quilt, and mime. My mom is very crafty and she can sew. My sis loves and rescues dogs (she has a boxer now that has adopted her). One BIL plays guitar and drums, another plays the sax and does magic tricks with cards, the other is just goofy. My nephew plays sax and can learn new songs fast. Ny niece, well she hasn't found her niche yet, but she is really good at being a pain in the tushie most of the time. My Grandpa preaches, teaches, sings, plays guitar, made cabinets/clocks, brick mason, electrician, mechanic, and tailor. My Grandma used to sew, now she crochets and cooks, and prays for all of us daily. My SIL, he preaches, teaches, sings, is a good writer, a good listener and very good to my oldest daughter. He's also a good friend.

My mom was a wonderful artist. She could paint, did amazing needlework, quilted of course, and crocheted. My dad was a professional photographer in his youth, now he is mostly a pain in the you know what. Besides learning to quilt, I also do regular sewing, needlework, photography, knitting and I have done a little jewelry making. My DH is Mr Fix-it, he does a little bit of woodcarving and leatherwork. Now he wants to learn to do chain maille. My DS plays trumpet, mellophone and french horn (while marching which I find amazing being a klutz). He also thought learning Japanese was fun and not hard at all????? He has a very quirky artistic style, which I wish he would continue to pursue. And while in Japan we discovered he is a budding photographer.

My DH is good at anything he puts his mind to. He is a great cook, is good with techno stuff, enjoys working with wood & solving problems. I am left-handed & have taught myself to do most crafts. I knit, bake, sew about anything, have designed my own cloth doll & teddy bear patterns, have braided a rug, hooked rugs in kits, work with scroll saw & wood in general. Looking forward to making wooden puzzles for the kids for next Christmas. I'm not good at crochet, but can make the general stitches. Our neighbors tell us visiting us is like visiting Santa's Workshop all year 'round. LOL

Thank you for the wonderful replies. I enjoyed reading all of them. So I am beginning to think that quilters come from artistic back grounds. I forgot to mention that my Dad is a mechanic and carpenter. He has almost completely remodeled their home. My Brother is a wonderful drawer(it that even a word?), but too lazy too keep it up. He is one of those that likes to live off of other ppl. Thank goodness he is still in Ca. I also sing, as a teenager I was in a quartet and we used to go to singing contests. I sung in the church choir and high school choir. I always wanted to be a famous singer but alas the stage fright got the best of me as I got older.

Well I quilt, crochet, taught myself to knit, tat, sew clothes, scrapbook and love to cook. My mother and father both possessed the "I can do anything gene" Mom played the piano and sang, she crocheted and was a seamstress (no quilting)and she was a wonderful cook. Dad can fix anything under the sun. He is a farmer and so this comes in handy. Like he completly rebuilt a tractor with just a parts book for reference. That trade has rubbed off on my brother who also from a very young age could rebuild and repair anything. In fact he just built a 7500 square foot house entirely by himself. He also brews home beer and has won several prestigious awards.

Both grandmas were great cooks and also great at any sewing and handwork you placed in front of them.

I think that everyone has special talents, it is all in how you look at it......That said I think my husbands talent is watching the same movie 50 times and still finding entertainment in it. Someone needs to come get the tools from my house as he is fairly dangerous with them!
