I bought a machine a lot like this for $5 at a yard sale. Motor was gone. My two young grandsons spent many hours playing with it, turning the wheel, turning knobs, lowering and raising levers, no needle in it of course. Best toy I have ever bought for $5.

You can call it re-purposed but in reality it is a waste of a great sewing machine. Those 15 clones sew a better stitch than a FW and are almost bullet proof, they will sew whatever you can stuff under the presser foot. I really, really abhor people who do this kind of thing and I'm seeing it more and more. I feel the same about people who turn treadle irons into tables and whatnot or old cabinets into whatever suits their misguided fancy.

For my family it would need a Jayhawk in order to forgive abusing a sewing machine like that. Guess it is one way to keep it in the family where no one wants a sewing machine.

Me too. I don't get to excited over this stuff.

Didn't a former member do some similar to machines that could not be fixed (I think he repaired them).

That is a good point.

I am with the "looks like it still may be usable " crowd. It may last 20 more years as a tractor and then someone else will get it back to sewing. And yes, I took 6 hours at WSU and put thousands of hours on tractors. Wheat shock doesn't seem as funny as moundbuilders as a mascot.
