the critters will eat it even if you don't break it up. if you live at the edge of the woods, just put it there

Had to reread. Pumpkins are nutritious. Had candy on my mind.

The deer love them. Ask me how I know. I usually cut mine in half, scoop out the seeds and roast it in the oven at 325 for an hour or so, scoop out the pulp, put it in the food processor and VOILA! Pumpkin for Thanksgiving pies. This year mine got frozen by heavy snow so the deer will probably have a Thanksgiving feast.

Make pumpkin soup! My sister usually does this - and it's quite tasty - treat it like a squash, no sweet spices, and it makes a wonderful soup. *rummage* *mutter* I've got that recipe around here somewhere....

If it's been carved you can break it up and bury it in your flower bed. It makes great mulch. Around here a lot of people cut the tops off, scoop out the insides then put mums in them for a beautiful fall decoration. After they start to decay they just plant the mums, pumpkin and all.

Well that's a wealth of information and a wonderful idea...I'm going to try that next year.

See.... that's what I love about the QB...you can get info on quilting and lots of other different things in life we have to deal with too....gardening...cooking...cleaning...in-law issues :)...prayers...and the list goes on and on.

I love to watch the critters going in and out of my pumpkins. I just cut the tops off after halloween.
