I used to get my news from the Yahoo home page but got tired of reading about Meghan Markle's baby bump, etc. I use Google for news.
I visit 4 or 5 forums, this one, a frugal board, a general interest board, an online selling board, a widowed board, and an etiquette board.
Also Youtube, where I eagerly await a video of the latest crash at the 11' 8" bridge in NC. (also known as "The Can Opener").

Try www.refdesk.com - It's the first place I go every day because it contains not only links to all sorts of news sites, but also features interesting facts (down the middle of the page), unusual bios (about not-famous people), NASA photo of the day, quotation of the day, and various calculators.
You might also like www.aldaily.com - it's basically a site with links to all sorts of literature sites, book reviews and interesting articles in science magazines
