We keep ours at 78 during the day and 76 at night. We also use ceiling fans. It is so hot here in Texas that even at 78 by late afternoon it gets up to 82 in the house. If I set it at 74 I would have to take out a loan to pay the bill.

We just have a window unit but it does a great job of keeping the house cool most days. I have it set on medium fan speed and the cool button is on 5. I would guess that it's around 75* in here during the day.

Mine's not on today, nor yesterday. It was cold this morning and I wore a housecoat till at least noon. This after noon I"ve left the front and back doors open so that the wind will clear out the house, and with the screen doors locked each cat is sitting in the door way. Koko in the front and fraidy cat Frederica is sitting at the back one, watching birds as they fly towards their nest.
Just a tad low to be very nice, but pleasant in the sun.
(Now everyone is going to hate me!!)
My Texas daughters refuse to comment on my weather!!

When I lived alone, I almost never ran the A/C (I had an apartment built in 1939 so it was built for natural air circulation) and my heat was set at 60 in the winter. I would put up with a lot of discomfort to keep my utility bills down. ;)
Now that I share the house with Boyfriend, I've gotten a little more lenient, but we still keep the A/C at about 77. I'd like the bedroom to be about fifteen degrees colder, but I sleep well enough if I turn on a fan and kick off the covers.
