Retired insurance agent for 35 years, and oh so happy to be just enjoying my home, husband of 49 years, kids, grandchildren, our 2 cats and our dog. And of course love having time to quilt and work on my crafts.

Hi all I have been retired for ten years worked at the local Veterinary office for 21 years. We did large and small animals, did everything from clean floors, mow, answer phone, make appointments to giving shots preping for surgery to helping with surgery when needed. Loved every minute of it. Even cleaning cages. Before that I worked at a local building supply and could figure board feet in my head. I sometimes have to use a paper and pencil to figure yardage now and then still mess up.

I see lots of folks in the medical field. I think that's the only line of work I was never in. My jobs from age 12 were babysitter, waitress, licensed beautition, pharmacy tech, worked as a government quality control supervisor in a plant that made rotary discs for mortor shells... I xDH was in the service as were my brothers, relatives and friends and all of them were sent to Viet Nam so every rotary disc I inspected HAD TO BE PERFECT OR I SENT IT BACK! I worried maybe one got by the inspectors that wasn't perfect....that made me dislike the job because it was hard knowing each of these things we were making was going to VN and was a potential killer. Awful, awful job.

After some college I became a social worker and worked at this profession for 30 years in 3 states. Last 10 years i worked as a state agency social service manager . I loved that job but I'm doing the job I love most and that's being retired and hanging out in my sewing room quilting and fondling my fabrics.

I was in electronics. I worked on circuit boards for several different companies. Built computers, flat bed scanners, and black boxes for the airforce. I also worked in space and re-entry systems, in the prototype lab,(worked directly with the engineers). My last job before retiring was at the shipyard in Long Beach, ca. That is where I met my husband. I trained people in NASA procedures,(soldering, color codes, reading schematics, blue prints, etc. I am NASA certified and have a top security clearance.
