When I cleaned houses a long time ago I used to hide the money. When we were getting ready to move in 1990 I found $60 underneath a liner in my underwear drawer. That was a nice surprise.

When I was a single mom in San Diego (about 20 yrs ago) I bought a skirt on sale at TJ Maxx for like $4, I thought it was the best bargain i could find. I wore it to work a few days later and found a $20 bill in the pocket...used it for groceries!

When we brought home the 1957 metropolitan it had change in the glove area. Some quarters, etc. and a medal. I saved them- I'm not Catholic but I figured it kept the old owner safe for many years ('57 to '92).

I found a wallet in the women's B.R. once and took it immediately to the service desk...the woman's mouth dropped open and said she saw something new everyday...I asked what she meant and she I bet the girl never expected to see this again...I laughed.

At one point my husband and I owned a janitorial service, and one of our clients was a bar. Our 3 year old went with us while we cleaned, and one day she came to show her daddy a funny dollar bill she had found. It was a $100. We told the manager about it, and he told us to keep it for a couple of weeks to see if someone claimed it. No one did, and we got to keep it :!: We put it to good use, that's for sure.

I needed to clrean out my file cabinet. First thought was, "You have not used anything in here for years , so just throw everything out. If you start looking at stuff you will keep it for a time when you just my need it." I did not listen to myself, thank God. As I was going through folders I finally came across one that had $980 in it!!!!! I do not remember putting it in there. I do not know what it was for, but it had a check with it also, and had beren there for 6 years!!! I ran downstairs waving hundred dollar bills in my husband's face, because he was on the phone being very professional, as he always is as a pastor. He asked the party to excuse him, and with his hand over the mouthpiece asked, "Where did that come from?" When I told him I found it in my old files, he said, "Go back and look for more." I left him a few $100 bills on his desk and went searching for more, but found none. The thought that I may have thrown it out gripped me, but on the other hand, I would have never known.

One time at least 10 years ago I parked in a parking lot that had mostly Doctors offices. When I got out and closed the door, on the ground were 3 $20 dollar bills! The parking lot was full of cars, but there was no one out and about!
I figured in a Drs parking lot Someone really needed that money! Not being sure how long the car next to me had been there-(did it fall out of that one --or- 1-2 or 3 cars earlier--or even the car just before me???) I just did not know what to do!!
So I just stuffed it in the passenger side window in the car next to me!!
I knew it was not mine and even if it did not belong to that 'car' I felt it might come in handy for them.

I found a $20.00 bill flying around the grocery store parking lot suring a wind dtorm. That one I kept because no telling where it came from.

Another time my family and I were riving down Broadway in Colorado and saw a guy on a bicycle peddling like he was going to a fire. He had money stuffed in his jean pockets, coat pockets, inside his shirt and it started flying out landing on the roadway. It was the funniest thing, almost like out of a movie.

Cars screeched to a halt and people started gathering it up. We did too, but we knew he must have just robbed someone and because my DH was a cop and I was in security, even though we reallly could have used the money and really needed it at the time, we got a description of the guy and started looking for cop cars in the vicinity.

Four blocks away there was a cigarette store that had police cars all over the lot. We went in and sure enough the guy had held them up and gotten away with several thousand dollars.

We returned the money and it totalled $420.00. Of all the people that collected money on the roadway, we were the only ones to return the money. As my DH and I explained we could not have kept the money in good faith as it was not ours.

I also have the rule about money found in the washer/dryer. Funny thing is I usually only find quarters, nickels, dimes and an accasional blot, nut, or nail.

Another time, I found $10.00 flying around on our property (20 acres). Tried to return it to the neighbors (they walked this path occasionally) but they said it was not theirs.

I bought a skirt at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I brought it home and washed it all alone. when I went to take it out it had given birth to 71$.

My mom and I were walking in a parking lot at flea market many years ago. She bent down and found a stack of money. It was over 300$.

Once when we were traveling, I found a wallet in a ladies' bathroom with over $1000 in it. I looked at the address on the dr. license, and the owner of the wallet lived in the next town we were going through. I changed my mind about leaving it with the tatooed teens behind the register (sorry if I insult anyone). Instead, we (hubby and I) decided to stop in the next town and see if we could find the person in the telephone book and, if not, leave the wallet with the local police there. We found someone in the phone book with the same last name and the same address. I called the number. The woman who answered was crying so hard she could hardly speak. I asked her if she'd lost something important. She said, "Oh, yes! Have you found it?" I told here where I was, and she was there in less than 5 minutes (lived just a couple blocks away).

She said she and her husband had just started a business, and she was on her way to the bank to pay the first note on the business loan when she lost her wallet. She said there was no way they could have come up with enough money to pay the note. She wanted to give me $100 as a reward. I refused, but I did ask her to do something nice for someone else who might need help if she could. I believe in "pass it on."
