That's great. My father's father was a Missionary in China in the '20's, and my Dad remembers having to eat some weird things, 1,000 year eggs, pickled eel and so on. He had to eat them, but his older sister didn't. because she was a girl. I
remember as a kid my father always said how he wished he had some candied ginger, it was absolutely great. Well his best friend "Uncle Hamm" went to visit China and brought Dad back some candied ginger and he gave us some(all seven of us) my gosh, that was the most awful stuff I had ever tasted, it tasted like soap. Dad would have a piece of that every day after dinner, and with a smile on his face he would ask us if we wanted some. Needless to say we never tried it again. Nevertheless, he was probably the healthier for it.

That is funny.... my husband absolutely loves raw Kohlrabi...he eats them like apples. But they are hard to grow in the heat of CA or our soil is terrible...which it is.

I can't think of the worst thing I've ever eaten but I can tell you I was surprised that I loved escargot when I tried it! All my life I thought that they sounded disgusting but while on a cruise last Dec I tried them and now I wish I could eat them every day.

Maybe as I read the other posts I'll see someone's reply that will strike a cord and remind me of something I hated.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

I love most foods, all veggies, Indian food, Thai, German you name it. Whats does me in is half cooked runny eggs, organ meats, anything in "aspic", leftover meats like head cheese, scrapple, blood pudding, etc. They should have thrown them away in the first place.
