A very wise man, my dad always said: Picking at a scab won't let it heal; and when it does it leaves a scar.

And another one: If you can't say anything good, say nothing at all.

My favorite from my Mom "You can get glad in the same shoes you got mad in".......LOL! From a British neighbor who would say" I'm so mad I could chew nails and spit rust"..now that is one po'd lady....LOL! And from when the kids were teenagers and would be late for a meal.... "You snooze you loose".

I don't know if this has been posted but it's my favorite:

The early bird may get the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese.

When my mom would get really ticked at someone and want to tell them off, my Grandpa would always say "the more you stir up horse manure, the more it stinks"!

Recently I have been reminded of the old saying: Careful what you wish for, you might get it.

When I get really upset with those near and dear I remember something that I read a long time ago, and it certainly puts things in proper perspective - "what would life be like if they weren't here?" Makes you realize that most of the little junks that make us angry don't add up to a hill of beans, so why bother holding on to it.

A few I can think of off the top of my head...

When things are frustrating or not going well, I always say, "Just put it in the Life's to Short category", then walk away from it for a while.

Another is my signature line, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun", quote from Katherine Hepburn.

And finally, "If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen, put down your spoon". (for those who like to stir up trouble and then say "who me?"). :-)

Mine actually comes from a song. One line is "If we make through December...". For me, this works for any month in the year.
