mjhaess -- I have heard of winesap -- we get them in the store occasionally.

When I was a girl we had apple machines with red delicious -- they were a nickle and they were soooo good. What they have now is not even close to what we had then.

For eating, I like honey crisp and pink lady. We used to have a gravenstine and MacIntosh trees. We ate the Macs and used to gravs for applesauce, apple streudel and apple cheese topper (DM never made pie ... hmmm)

Honey crisps for sure. I only like very hard, crisp apples...wont eat any that are mushy(only good for cooking).

I like MacIntosh and Macouns (variety of a Mac). Also like Cortlands and Northern Spys for applie pies. Able to find them in Central New York where I lived years.

Honey crisps are great but I use a lot of Gala too. Also golden delicious. Tart and crispy is what I like!
