Always wanting something different I downloaded a Halloween screensaver today. When it was finished, I saw about 8 new icons on my desktop. No Thanks!! It took twice as long to get rid of them.

I'm always paranoid to download certain things off the internet. You always hear horror stories about viruses and Trojan Horses. I probably miss out on a lot of fun stuff but I'd rather miss than have to pay to have my puter fixed.
Sorry you didn't get your fun screen saver. :( :( :(

Some websites are more reputable than others, and some do have little checkboxes for add-ons that you can uncheck to opt out of (and some just slide them in).
Don't feel bad. I've downloaded and uninstalled more times than I can count.
Loretta, yeah, you can even get little portable flash drives that are the shape of a Bic cigarette lighter but about half the size, and they're several gigabytes of space - for $10 - $25!

So here's how you do it!! You go down and buy a halloween card, scan it to your computer (hopefully you have a scanner!) and then choose THAT for your screensaver.....not as much fun as the animated ones, but still. I use pictures I take as screensavers. In fact, with VISTA, you can set up a file folder of your favorite pictures and it does a slide show.

PS if you wanted a Hallowe'en one you could snag those pumpkins pics off the thread that's on here at the moment...
