LOL, yeah, I should have added that was before the economy busted. Since then it's been visiting family instead of going off somewhere with DH on a vacation.

3 people near our cottage rent this way. Nice places too. Check them out for foliage time.

Hotels, the best we can afford. It is simple, even if we go to see the kids, we stay in a hotel rather than at their home. That way, we stay as long as we want and if we want to leave, off we go. We also like to get a hotel with a pool when we see the kids because then we can take the grandchild swimming and that is always a treat that she looks forward to.

We're addicted to New York City so we've been staying in hotels. In the past though, we've rented apartments, cottages, and condos in Sarasota, Florida, Outer Banks, NC, Williamsburg, Virginia, Savannah, Georgia, Smoky Mountains, and Cape Cod.

No tents for me!!! Yeah, I'm spoiled ;))

DH and I both have motorcycles and we belong to the national BMW motorcycle club. They have a national rally in July in a different place every year, so our major trip is to that rally. We tent camp most of the way, unless it is really terrible weather and we motel it for a night. One year to Wyoming, one year to Wisconsin, this year was close in PA. Next year's is in Missouri.

We are so lucky. Ten years ago when our youngest got married, he and his bride bought a retirement home in Florida while on their honeymoon.

Being the age that they are, it will be a few years before they can enjoy retirement...so, for the present, mom and dad are doing the enjoyment and the relaxation for them.

Can't beat that deal, now can one?

Now if only the other three would buy in three other locations, we could spend 3 months in each place........lololol
