we live about 20 miles outside of Charleston, WV and have "city water" piped in from the Elk River - somtimes the clorine is so strong it burns your eyes - all of the water from wells around here is "red", having of sulfur in it and has to be filtered before using for just about anything - I'm trying to locate a spring that my gransparents used when they first moved to this area just gardening, etc. For those of you who are with Netflix you may find the movie "Blue Gold: World Water Wars" interesting - you'd be surprised how the world water is being used.

city water, but I buy bottled Spring water regularly for drinking. I keep a gallon jug in the fridge all the time.

when back home in MIch. we have well water, not to boast, but it tastes good, nice and soft for washing, and wonderful for your hair. here in fl. we have city water, I ALWAYS put lemon in my water here n Fl. , but other than that? water from the city is NEVER cold enough to drink..... UGH!!

When I lived on the island of St. Croix in the Carribbean all of our water for everybody was their own rainwater.
There were no sources of underground water there.
All of the houses had a big cisterns made of sealed cement blocks in their basements. They were full of water. Lovely fresh clean soft rainwater!
It was the best tasting water you could ever imagine!

We have well. Water does cost $1500 about every 15 years for a new well head. With the right water softner you don't have to filter, tastes great. City water you pay as you go, well all at once but it's still cheaper. You can buy fluoride mouth wash to replace it not being in the water.

We have a community well (actually 4 of them) for 200+ homes. 2 years ago, uranium above the accepted level was found in the water, and we aren't supposed to drink, brush our teeth or cook with it - so we've been using bottled water since then. The company that owns the water system is under order from the state (CT) to fix it, but like everything else in New England, the fix is like molasses in winter, very slow. Some idiots in our community are holding up the process, because they don't like the 'fix' the rest of us chose. Smacks of politics. Meanwhile, bottled water.

We live in the foothills of the Adairondak mountains and have the priviledge of being near the head of a river so there are many springs here. Our water is from an Artesian spring fed well that never freezes or goes dry. It is always cold and clear and delicious.
If something ever happens uphill from us to ruin our water, I will be the saddest person ever!!!
