I was a senior in high school. We got the announcement that the President had been shot while I was in history class. We were all sure he'd be fine because he was after all The President. Things like the President being killed just didn't happen in our sunny little world. We got the news that he died in the next class and pretty much sat in stunned silence the rest of class which was the last of the day. I remember the teacher, a man, cried. Life really changed forever that day.

I was in 8th grade English class. It was the last period of the day when they announced it. We too had Monday off to watch the funeral. We spent a lot of time watching the news.

I was in 9th grade English class. The principal made an announcement over the intercom. It was a rural school - so we had to wait to ride the bus home to find out more information and watch TV.

i was 15, and a sophomore in high school. i was sitting in social studies class, when the PA system crackled on, and the news that the president had been shot came over the speakers--the office had set a radio in front of the mike, and we were getting a static-ridden first person account of what was going on. after a few minutes, school was dismissed, and we didn't hear of the actual death until we reached our homes. mom had the t.v. on, mesmerized by those black and white images on the screen. her sister lived in D.C., and my uncle worked in the pentagon. her mother lived there, and also worked in the pentagon, so we felt it personally---this was where we spent summer vacations. i had been to the white house, been in the oval office, seen the grounds. and i was devastated...childhood's end.

It was a sad day in our American history. I was a Sr. in high school and we were on a home economics outing to view various types of housing and found out when one girl came late and told us the horrible news. I was Editor of our school's newspaper and we did a special edition, which we sent to Mrs. Kennedy and received a vey nice reply from her. It is a day I will never forget as long as I live.

I was in high school taught by nuns & lay teachers. Was in litature class if I remember right. Yesterday a small portion of the special was aired, it was a part that I don't remember it being back then, but somehow it is now. However it was not Oswald, it was others that when it is revealed you will be very upset. God protect us all.

I heard it on BBC NEWS and the following morning at school we had a two minute silence.

I believe I was in 5th grade at a catholic school. Nuns were balling like babies. We were sent home early. Saw Mom cry for the first time that day. Remember watching the funeral procession and the cason with the riderless horse and the boots on backwards in the saddle. People were crying and the world seemed to stand still for those few days. Then remember when Ruby shot Oswald right there on TV. Unbelieveable....what's the world coming to?! I asked my Dad why God let these things happen and he said their work was done on earth, God had greater things for them in Heaven. Then in 1968, when ML King and Bobby Kennedy were shot, my dad passed suddenly in Nov. same year. All I could remember was his words, God had greater things for these great people in Heaven...including my Dad.

Mom passed in Nov. 1997, same year as Mother Teresa and Princess Diana.
