Who ate black-eyed peas today?
Last year was such a skanky year that I had to do something to liven up this year, so I made vegetable soup with lots of black-eyed peas. This is the first year I've done this. I do hope it works.

Our family tradition is Split Pea Soup. I think it is from my Dutch ancestry. Left over ham from Christmas goes into it on New Years Day. Never could do the Pickled Herring thingy and, thank goodness, neither does Hubby though his family is German.

We never did the blackeyed peas thing in our family. It was pork roast with saurkraut, mashed potatoes and usually another veggie. I'm hoping for a great new year but the past year wasn't so bad for us. I wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

I fixed black eye peas with ham, fried potatoes and biscuits (canned, lol), and blue berry muffins for lunch today. Then my husband wanted pork chops and stove top dressing for supper. I started my year off on a good note, cooking twice in one day. I don't cook as much since just the two of us. lol
