When I was a little girl a cat came to our farm and I loved it so it stayed. I named it Walter as I thought that was the prettiest name ever! You guessed it....Walter had kittens. But the name stuck and she came when called. My Mother did not call her by name however. She felt calling "Walter, time to come in" would have the neighbors wondering as my brother's name was Charles and my Dad's was Pete!

We had an older tabby come to our house and adopt us. We had "her" vetted, & told that she'd most likely been fixed (by a young vet) Next time we took 'her' in for her annual shots, a lady vet came in..mentioned we had a handsome lad. WHAT???!!! She looked, said "uh huh". Orange tabbies are ALMOST ALWAYS males. Had never heard that before, but it might be a clue when cat shopping.

Interesting about orange tabbies. I've had 3 female orange tabbies in my lifetime but many more males. It does make sense, I guess.
My Romeo was a Zoe until the vet told me he needed a masculine name cuz he is a boy kitty and not a female.

I have a friend who adopted a cute little female kitten. She is solid white, so they named her snowball. When they took her to the vet to have her spayed, they discovered she is a boy. His name is now snowball-less.

My two are feral kittens we're still trying to tame enough to let us pet them. We were told they were both females but they were only about 4 months old at the time. Guess I'll find out when I take them to get spayed/neutered. At least their names aren't gender specific.
