OK- I LIVE with it! Daily! Hubby plays the accordion- practices daily. I sew across the hall from him. I critique his playing and tell him to practice so I can listen when I sew.

He has 6 or 7 accordions and I swear all his friends are in their 80s.

At each of our kids weddings they play polkas- it's a requirement and he provides the cds. Speaking of- if you want some music- let me know he has a huge assortment of them.

Me- I can't dance it worth a lick. I keep saying I will learn. But then he won't go line dancing with me either....

I posted pics here some time ago of him with them. I'll see if I can find them.

Billy, I used to polka at all the weddings....I would partner with either my Mom or My favorite MIL...I don't have any partners anymore...Mom can hardly walk let alone polka, and MIL has been gone for 15 years....
Oh well, it will be nice to watch......

GOSH the memories this is bringing back  I know the bride had to order a CD just so she could play a waltz for her and her Dad as the DJ doesn't have any polka music

The last time I listened to it was 1986 in Germany. And it was only popular there during the beer festivals.

My music interest are very eclectic!!

I play the guitar and the type of music that I play is more of the Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie J Malmsteen, progressive metal genre.

But I listen to all types including Polka!

When I am quilting I usually listen to Ambient New Age (very soothing) and classical. But then when I am in the garage hammering away and painting cars I listen to anything from surf music, rockabilly, and heavy metal.

But Saturday nite at 9pm its the Big Joe Polka Show!!!

I LOVE POLKAS . In fact I am listening to a station call 247PolkaHeaven.com . I am of Sloveian orgin. Both my parents raised us on polkas. I was related to John Yankovick the Cleveland ,Ohio polka king and the Frank Spedich Band out of Barberton, Ohio. I learned how to do the polka when I was very young. My brother who was two years old then me . We would dance togehter at family weddings. I guess if you were raised on them like me you will always have fond memories of those good times. But as with my girls the love of polkas have faded into memories of their grandmother listening to polkas every Sat. morning. And we still have her big yellow boom box that she listen to them on and now I do. I love country and Christian music especially the old hymn

I am not sure I have ever heard polka. I remember when I was young and my brother had a yamaha keyboard..there was a polka button..so when you played the keys it would make a different noise...but that is the extent of my knowledge on polka!
