Who Likes a Good Polka?

well- you need to check some out charismah! You'll be tapping your toes in no time!
We are in coal country here in PA- my roots are German coal miners and English farmers. Hubby is Slovak and Lithuanian. Both sides- polka music. Then the English side- farmer dances- square dances and country line dancing.
Saturday night here at 8:00 is Ballroom dancing, then at 9 is Pennsylvania Polka.
Summers are full of local bazaars and polka music. The music burns off the heavy calories of the pierogies and beer. :)

I grew up listening to polka and watching Larwence Welk. I have never been to a wedding or graduation party that didnt have polka music too. Of course I am orginally from NE Pa where the ethic make up of the population is so different then here in Utah. I love it and I dont think there is a more fun dance out there!!

Barb, your hubby looks like my cousin with her collection of squeeze boxes! I will find a photo and post it.
I grew up thinking that a marriage wasn't done until they Polka-ed together! I have my cousin's CD's that I play when I need happy music!

I like a good polka! I live smack dab in the middle of a German/Czech population. If I didn't like polkas, I'd skip most of the celebrations around here. Our community band also plays a lot of polkas during the summer for performances at the local festivals. I have never danced to one, but love the music.

KBunn, I live outside of Wilkes-Barre, in rural Luzerne County.
You know how the bazaars and polkas go hand in hand here.
My GS refers to my hubby as "poppa-cordion"- he knows he's the Grandpa that plays the accordion.
