They just said that you can't tranquilize(sp) at night, so the sheriff had no choice but to shoot them. There are some leopards and some primates that have been captured and they are trying to transport them. The laws in Ohio allowed him to have the animals, but they are quickly trying to change the laws. The wife is on her way back to help the authorities.

Latest update on TV news
They think all but 3 animals are either caged or dead. They are not sure yet. They said a mountain lion, grizzly bear & monkey/s are still loose. We have rain today & this area has a lot of forest.Very hard to see any animal that doesn't want to be found.
There will be another update later this afternoon. No one hurt so far & that's a blessing.

I feel really bad for the guy who did this. Seems he was angry at someone/something and decided this was his best way to "get back".
This whole thing is really a shame. Though I am glad no one has been injured so far, it sure has created quite a mess in the area.

It's too bad that laws have to be passed to regulate what common sense should govern. What are people thinking today? I saw another story on the news a while back about how easy it is to transport and order poisonous snakes! Sad that the animals have to pay for human stupidity. Stay safe.

Keep in mind that this man, however misguided he was, had all the proper permits to keep these animals. I blame the government for allowing the permits. It's tragic all around and hopefully they'll capture the rest safely. A lion had killed one of the monkeys last night so better to put them down for public safety. There are a lot of farms out there and people can't put all of their animals in a barn.

One remark the sherrif made was "this is not something that just happened today, it's been a problem for a long time.
I think all law enforcement were aware of this place & the owner. He also collected big game hunting guns. His wife had left or filed for divorce. If the man was just out of jail & didn't seem to have a job, where was the money coming from to feed that many animals? Just wondering.
The TV is still saying to stay inside, which I plan to do. It's cold & raining, so that's not a problem.Jack Hanna said the animals, even tho caged, don't turn into tamed animals, they are very dangerous.
I do agree with those who ask why he had those animals? It is legal in Oh....stupid politicians. Why would it be legal in any state? I can ....pedal to the metal ,be in a Columbus suburb in 35 minutes. Can you imagine them having to track a cat or grizzly in the city?
Well,JMO....but that law needs changing.
