Wild Fire Season
Over the holiday weekend there were 3 fires within 50-60 miles. They didn't get to big & were taken care of in 2-3 days. Today another started north of town & I'm afraid it will take a lot of time & resources to control. At 4:30 pm it was just under 900 acres burned, the highway going north was closed & the train to Silverton is also shut down for now. Possibly we will get some rain on Sun.

My son lives in the Okanagon Valley in British Columbia. He says the fires have started there already - much earlier than normal.
They have had a few weeks of very hot weather. Winter snow has melted so quickly it has caused flooding.

New Mexico is facing extreme drought this fire season. The State and National parks are closing throughout the state to try to prevent fires. What I don't understand is why we don't ban fireworks! This whole area is a tinderbox.

They have proven that controlled fire burning works and prevents big fires. The Norwegians have build a big fire truck that sprays like a good shower head and puts the fires out quickly. Wish people would consider in fire zones, and prevent loss of property and life. Manin Oregon that my dh watches his video U-tube has gotten his own fire truck.

Just wondering......are most of these wild fires caused by thoughtless, careless humans or just random lightening strikes onto dry wood? I know it's mother nature's way of revitilizing the woodlands, but just wonder which is more prevelant.......
