yes it was terrible here. my hubby's oldest son lives up on the mountains. used to live in Gold Hill, not sure where he is now. He's a recluse for the most part. Viet nam vet and doesn't come down the mountain often.

The fire is Northwest of Boulder. I live about 12 miles south of Boulder. Depending on the wind direction in the last two days, we have really been smokey at our house. It is very sad how quickly these fires can run. Let's hope tomorrow brings some moisture and some help to these folks.

Some firefighters have gone more than 36 hours without sleep. The smoke can be seen for over 100 miles and is causing misery to those with upper respiratory issues. Soot is falling like snow miles away from this fire. It is a very bad situation. Thank you.
So glad you posted this here. My DD told me today that the air quality is affected even as far south as Colorado Springs . She's a doctor and asthmatic. An old beau was a National Park Service Hot Shot fire fighter and it hurts us both to think of the situation these firefighters find themselves in. The news seems to never give us really enough detailed information. What a horrible nightmare for all concerned!

The fire is burning west of Boulder in Four Mile and Left Hand Canyons. So far no one has been injured, 94 structures have been lost including over 60 homes. The fire qualified as a Level One late last night so Federal Agencies are taking over the management of the fire allowing locals to rest and providing more resources.

    Gotthebug: Stay safe.

I am near Denver, so have seen smoke filling the skies. Thanks so much for alerting our other quilting friends, beyond what news reports can tell. From reports this morning, it may be closer to 8,000 acres (over 11 square miles) by tomorrow, over 100 buldings, probably most are homes, totally lost.
