Will you admit to any one of these descriptions?

I prefer budget conscious. I always try to make sure the emergency fund stays strictly for that. an emergency. with hurricane season in progress and medical situations here and out of state with family, we never know when we will need to vacate for a time or two. I won't dip into that for sewing since ihave enough to get me by.

I think I'm frugal and cost conscious about most things. I'm always looking for a bargain and buying things on sale!! But I do tend to be extravagant with my daughter and gift giving. I love to help others.

That's why I don't plan to leave much I have no children so the people who benefit from my death will be getting an unexpected gift.

Definitely inherited the 'cheap" gene, and learned it's usefulness when my first marriage ended and I had two kids to support. My two children from the first marriage did not inherit it. I tried to teach them but they just don't get it. My DH is tighter with a dollar than I am, and our daughter seems to have inherited the "cheap" gene but has a different idea what she thinks is worth paying for than either of us do.
One of my mottos is that a dollar in my pocket is worth far more to me than that same dollar in a cash register. Even so, I am not excessive about it. And the grands are here for me to spoil, so I do. Even so, I make sure they see me put change in a 'money jar' for our summer fun, so they know that it isn't because we are rolling in money.
Now that I am in my "wonder years" (you know, wondering how I will get out of bed, get to the bathroom on time, finish anything, how I ever got anything done when I worked, etc.) I am loosening the purse strings. After all, caskets don't come with ATMs...

Those little luxuries like Starbuck tend to suck money out of the wallet. I have suggested to young people who are 'broke' that they bring their lunch to work instead of spending $5 to $10+ for lunch. A few see the point - having some money to save, but most look at me like I have two heads. Also have suggested when their car is completely paid off. they keep making the payment - into their savings account! Get a raise? Put the increase in take home into savings . Why? Because they were living without that money before they got the raise, so they can continue to live without it -unless they were truly scraping by.

Frugal, cheap, cost-conscious, penny-pinching, miserly -
I prefer to think of myself as being "cost-conscious" -
To me, that means I am willing to spend (time, money, effort) on something, if it is worth it to me. It also means that I am "aware" of the cost of having or doing something.
Of course, that is another of those hard-won awarenesses!

That is exactly how I see myself. I would also add "Bargain hunter" to my description. My family jokes that I can sniff out a bargain from miles away lol
