My husband and I are both tall. He is 6' 2" and about 190 lb so a bean pole but long legged. He sepperated the top of the cabinet from the base and added blocks between the top of the treadle posts and the bottom of the cabinet. See pictures. This will give you the extra lenght between the cabinet and the treadle plate. You will also need to slightly enlarge the opening the belt goes through on one side and lenghten the belt just a smidge. We bought our own piece of belt and made it longer.

We found you can treadle without doing this but you can not scoot in and it felt awkward. You can treadle by sitting further away but then both his and my arms were suspended and "stretched" to work the machine. I am only 5'8" but more rotund and I enjoy the added space too. Now my knees do not hit the bottom of the cabinet and I can scoot in. They sure did not make these things ergo dynamic. Another thing would be to make a custom treadle table. That way you can put the treadle head itself also in a more ergo dynamic spot.

This does not help much with giving you leg space but he also put the whole treadle on skits both to protect our hard wood floor and add some overall height. See pictures.

Have fun!!!! I can't wait to see pictures of you on your treadle.

This is where you will need to lenghten the opening on one side once you "lifted" the base.

Not really, I'm in my jammiez. But I want to see your machines!

And maybe Don wants to "help" me with my non-working oldster? LOL

    Don,
my DH is 6'2" and he can sew better on the treadle than I can. I'm not sure how he does it. He looks like a gorrilla next to this machine all hunched over. The machine just hums along with him. This could be because his feet are a size 13.
    Enjoy!
