Posted that I had harvested my 1st deer (a doe) openeing day (Friday).. well last night I got my first buck! Holy smokes! I was so excited I squealed! (you're supposed to be quiet even after you shoot)

It was about 2 1/2 year old, 8 points. Not a huge rack at all, but it is perfectly shaped.

The best part is I was curled up falling alseep and was getting ready to start whining to my hubby about want to go home cuz i was cold. Neither one of us saw it walk up on us. LOL AND>> I am done! I can stay all nice and warm until next year. LOL

yup. we process our own and for friends and family. also make our own salomi. If we have a lot of deer, we give some away to older people we know who don't or can't hunt.

    We love the meat.
Have you ever canned it? I love it done this way. not a bit of waste.

we use it for steaks, burger, deer bacon. all kinds of stuff.

I don't like deer meat other than salomi. but my hubby and the kids eat it. I am pretty much a filet mignon type of girl.

I like beef, but not all the parts. Just last night they were eating rocky mountain oysters (beef type). Yuck! Not me. LOL

I love the canned vinison, too. I miss that. Even though we have deer in our yard almost all summer, we don't go hunting! We live in an area where it's hard to get a tag.

I have lived in the country for over 20 years, seen TONS of deer, never saw one with antlers. I don't even hunt and they are avoiding me.
