Wool applique?
Hello,
I do not know if this is the right place for this thread but here goes. Do any of you do applique with wool? I found a few books on Amazon and am truly intrigued. I am intrigued so much I actually bought one of the books. I was going to buy some wool blend felt but didn't know if this was the right stuff to get. Thanks for any insight or advice!

I love wool applique. I use felted wool, not the felt. But you can use either one. It's so easy - trace the pattern pieces into freezer paper, iron the pieces onto the wool, cut out on the line. Then I use a primitive stitch (some use a blanket stitch) to attach the piece to the background. It's so relaxing and it's nice to take along to work on just about anywhere. Have fun with it!

I've been working with wool applique lately, and I'm loving it.
Only used wool candle mats kits so far.
Also, purchase a book from Sue Spagro for stitching on wool applique.
Felted wool is the best to work with.

Batting is not used in wool appliqué. Using wool pennies as an example, begin by appliquing the top piece to the middle piece, then appliqué that unit to the bottom piece. All the layers takes the place of batting. I use a household stapler to hold prices in place. Once staple is gently removed it leaves no mark. As a wool dyer and worker, my preference is for 100% wool. Shop thrifts shops for wool skirts ( best dollar wise) and you can use unsweetened Koolade to dye new colors. I LOVE working with wools! Have fun in your new adventure!
