Most monochromatic quilts I see strike me as "sophisticated elegance". I love them, but do not make them. Monochromatic is not something I have learned to do well, yet.

"Pop" is not for ever quilt. Sometimes quite, soft, gentle and peaceful are just what you want in a quilt.
