I used to watch that decorating show that had Paige on it. When the people would come in and look at their new room, they would say "This exceeds my expectations". Every show, every group of people would all say the same thing. Then it went on to other shows. Made me want to barf.

I was reading some of the other replies and had to laugh. Many I am guilty of.....

I have too many pet peeves about words and phrases to list here, but I'll list a couple.

    1. I hate it when people mispronouce the word "nuclear". It usually comes out as "noo-kyoo-lar". News reporters on TV are among the worst who can't say it correctly. It's "noo-clee-ar".

    2. In the written language of today, I cringe when I see "wah-lah", used when showing something, such as "Wah-lah, here's my finished quilt." The word is voilą folks!

I said that today and immediately apologized for my use of a nonsensical phrase. I thought of this thread (which I started) and felt as stupid as I sounded.

The one I hate the most is "youse guys" Youse is not the pural of you and I'm not a guy. There that feels better to get that off my mind.

Someone being "gifted with" instead "given a gift". "Gifted" implies a talent, not a present.
