I have a few - when someone pronounces jewelry as jewlery, or realtor as relator. Or when my husband and I are referred to as "guys" by a waitress/waiter at a restaurant.

I hate "have a nice day." When a speaker facing an audience says "(something) is on my left, your right." And opne more--"Last but not least."

hypoallergenic! It started as a marketing gimmick. a friends mother bought her some earrings years ago that she could NOT be allergic too. poor girl almost lost her ear! my niece and nephew have a "hypoallergenic" dog. every time the dog sticks his nose on me or licks me i get hives! the word itself wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many people in the world who believe it's impossible to be allergic to something that is hypoallergenic.

The new way to pronounce words. One I can think of right now is Chile. It was always "Chilee" and now is" Chilay". Drives me crazy. Also advertisement.

there are two that drive me nuts- Calling everyone you meet "Bud or Buddy" huh ? and the saying: that's the way I roll huh? I thought you walked ..
The first one is one I hear at work all the time as one of the people there thinks everyone and who calls really really likes him (he's one of those that cannot stand it when he's not liked!!) and that the way I roll is a take off of : the 911: Let's roll - let those words be in history and let them be what they are ... But those are mine !LOL

In reply to the few that get irked by the AX not ASK... it is not always just saying it wrong. Sometimes it is actually they CAN NOT say the word right. I worked in a speach therapy department and this is the most common word for people to have a serious issue with. It use to upset me also, until I worked in that department.

Perhaps it's a Southern peculiarity, but I hear educated people saying"...and alls I wanted was...". Where did the "s" come from?Arghhh!
