Would you want to be a British "Royal"?

They are "royal" because somewhere back in their family tree, an ancestor beat down or killed all of his opponents, or got them to be on his side somehow. Not something to be proud of IMO.
Although there is a theory that the current royal family is not the correct "heirs to the throne", it is actually a guy in Australia. Apparently many centuries ago a king in France went to war and when he came back his wife was pregnant and the dates did not add up. The Australian guy is not interested in pressing his case, though, can't say I blame him. Still it would be interesting to see the DNA evidence.

Pros and cons either way. It would be wonderful to actually help other people the way Princess Diana helped eradicate so many past war landmines, proponent for respecting others warts & all, and setting new standards for "royals". IMHO

People always had to look up to someone to rule. someone strong. We still do it. Not sure where the word Royal come in but rulers had families and those continued on ruling. on and on. But no, i would not want to be. too many people to be responsible for and too many watching my every move. nope, not me.
Have any of you watched "The Crown"? It's a very good series that portrays the royal family pretty accurately, with Elizabeth as the focus. They heir to the throne is raised to rule and is groomed for it their entire life. It's a huge responsibility, holding up the position of the crown. By the time they are crowned, they are ready. And their lives are a whole lot more than "being waited on".
William has known he will one day be king, since he was a little boy. When Diana and Charles divorced, Charles insisted she lose her title too. That means that she had to curtsy to all the royal highnesses, including her own sons! William, at the time, told her, "Don't worry Mummy. I'll give you your title back when I am king."
