    When I was growing up there was one empty lot on the block where we lived. I discovered there were wild strawberries growing there. It was MY secret! So disappointed some years later when someone built on the lot. Never had any as nice as those.

    I go strawberry picking every year at this time. I`ve been picking in the same field now for many years. It is close to where our camp is. Welll two yrs ago a guy bought the land where i go. He didn`t seem to like the fact i was picking in his field last yr...i didn`t know it was sold. Well this year he mowed the grass ...just before the berries came out...and this is way in the bush....and he really doesn`t do anything in this field...nor with the grass he cut...soooo.....now i have to find new places to pick...bummer!!!!

    i`ve actually never made a pie with field strawberries, thy are are so sweet, i just make jam.

    I was surprised to learn that wild strawberry vines grow all over the city of Portland, OR. Love them. My favorite fruit.

    I know....thy are monster wild strawberries....never imagined thy could get so big!!!
