I told DH I would not buy another house with out a window in every bathroom with a tub or shower. The house we have now just has the vent fans. If they aren't running for 4 hours after a bath/shower there will be mold growing in the shower and even behind the walls. If you have steam in an enclosed room it will not go away, but seep into the walls, floors and grout. I noticed black specs in the bath that my niece used while staying here and after all said and done we had to replace the bath walls. There was mold behind the walls growing out the molding edges to the outside. She did not keep the vent fan running enough time to remove all the humidity from the shower and kept the bath door shut when she left the room. The contractor and insurance adjuster said vent fans have to be run several hours to remove the humidity, no just while taking a bath or shower.

Beautiful bathroom; I love your tile!

I could never understand why, when there are 2 bathrooms, the one for the master bedroom is huge and the one that will be for children/guests is so small. I would want them to both be good size - especially for the children!

Just lovely! I am married to a retired contractor and he built our home 25 years ago. There are things that need remodeling and updating by now but I can't stand the thoughts of living with the turmoil, dirt and noise that goes along with it. I can understand perfectly what you went through.

If you do not want to hang a curtain over the window, you can buy contact paper for glass that looks like lace, or stained glass to adhere to the window, for privacy without losing the light from the window, or using a small tension rod, hang a half curtain on the bottom half only. Please let us see it again when you are done adding your touches.

The reason it took 9 months...well sorta...is because we had a lot of work done...but they also have to redo many things..banister took 4 tries before they got it right. Bathroom tiles 3 times. They did their own thing. They put the plumbing in the wrong place and instead of fixing it...they continued to install everything...mirror, lights, cabinet etc. needless to say we said no way everyday...well when it came time to the walk through...that was one thing of many on the list...they had to remove, rematch and fix and move it. The tiles were horrible. I am looking for a better before massive gross tile job. I think I may have deleted them...here is onenote the ugly green tiles

it was worse in person...the doors nails wrong color and nails upside down. Paint on my ceilings, fire alarm missing, tiles on the wall...the list was two pages long...thankfully everything was fixed and all looks great now. Even the sink sprayed up...so, so many issues...we had them paint the hallways and they left all the nail holes, the coat of paint was horrible and I used very expensive paint 54.00 a gallon. hole in my rug...so, so many issues. Oh and they made a hole in the wall under the mirror...it was like when my kids put a hole through my wall with a lacrosse ball and hit it with a picture and years later we found it.

So sorry you had such a stressful time with your contractor. But it is really beautiful now and I know you are enjoying it.

Yes, I love House Hunters and most of the Renovation Shows. "Love It, or List It" is much to dramatic and so staged. The outcome is generally great, but all that extra drama is too much for me, so I turn it off.

I agree...I love seeing the results but hate the fake drama...why do they think we need to watch that...we just love seeing the before and after and all the wonderful ideas!
