I picked up a Herb book at the 2nd hand book store the other day

The Joys of Herbs, A guide to growing, cooking and decorating

I just surfed Amazon and yes you can still get this book, used for 74 cents plus shipping

Right now I only have chives and lemon thyme, but sometimes I plant basil and parsley. Before I divorced and moved out I used to have sage, oregano, lavender, chocolate mint, apple mint, pineapple sage, winter savory, and chamomile. ;-)

We grow herbs on the deck in special hanging baskets (you can purchase them from us on E-Bay - called "Plantopia Hanging Baskets"). The baskets have "pockets" that allow you to plant stuff in the sides of the basket. They're terrific for strawberries, flowers, and of course herbs.

I think my husband said that one of our customers is selling the baskets on E-Bay as well. If you search for them, we are the seller named "Lambentknl" shipping from Joliet IL. Pretty sure we are selling them cheaper, which makes sense as the other seller is OUR customer.

We (hubby and I) are the manufacturer of these baskets and they are made here in Chicago.

Anyway ... With these baskets I can have a whole mixed herb garden in one basket. Oregano, Rosemary (my fav), Sage, Thyme, Chive, Dill, Peppermint, Cilantro, and others.

here's the link for the 12" basket. If you look at the sellers page you can see listings for the 14" basket as well.

A few recipe's for my fresh herbs

    Celery with Buffalo Blue spread
Combine 1 part Nuefchatel cheese with 1 part Blue cheese plus finely chopped cilantro to taste. Cream together well. Spread on celery sticks, sprinkle with Tabasco.

    Linguini with Olives and Parsley
In a mortar bowl grind chopped Parsley leaves (no stems), fresh black pepper, chopped garlic, and salt with a few tsp of olive oil (just enough oil to get a smooth consistancy). Once smooth, remove to bowl. Add chopped green olives with pimento and enough olive oil to cover all the linguini your going to make (roughly 1 cup per 1 lb of linguini). Toss olive oil mixture over cooked linguini while hot - serve.

I also put up infused oils. Add sprigs of Rosemary, fresh chopped garlic, lemon, jalepeno, etc to your virgin olive oil and put in STERILIZED bottle with a sterlized cork capper. Some great combo's: Ginger & Orange peel, Rosemary garlic and black pepper, Lemon & Thyme.

Here we have 80s one day and down to 40 the next. Gotta love Texas weather. . . Always changing.
Roses are in bloom. Iris and other spring bulbs are done for the year.

yes, we are container gardening, have already harvested 10 tomatoes, and several banana and jalapeno peppers! Get ready grill, here we come! Got a scare this weekend tho, temps dropped down in the low 40's! Yikes! Out of character for this part of TX this time of year, we have been having temps in the 90's now for weeks!
