DogHouseMom, I was just looking at your planters on eBay. I'm wondering how many openings there are in the 14" baskets vs the 12" baskets? It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures.

Do you prefer one size over the other? If so, why?

I'm thinking these would be fun to plant this year, but trying to be careful to buy only what I will actually use.

Do you like to plant flowers in your garden as I have a big flower garden around my house and along the driveway.

I hope to start building my raised bed garden so it will be ready for next year. May put a few tomatoes and peppers in containers.

The 14" have 8 pockets and the 12" have 6 pockets. We plant some of each. The 12" we use for strawberry, herb and Begonia and the 14" for everything else (Vinca, Impatiens, Petunia, mixed flowers).

I am having a garden. Planted peas, beans and potatoes Wednesday. And planted thyme, Rosemary, coliander, parsley, and a couple of other spices.

DH plants and waters, I'm in charge of weeding and cooking/canning. Got some heirloom tomato seeds from an older gentleman at church so we have lengthy conversations about "how're the 'hillbilly' tomatoes doin'?"

Our problem is the lack of water but it is cool -- my tomatoes are going wild -- not sure what I will do with all of them when they all ripen at the same time -- not bad for 10 plants stuck in the flowerbed!

Planted potatoes and onions FINALLY, on Monday and peas, carrots and radishes on Wednesday. Will need to wait for beans, cukes and such and the transplants of tomatoes and peppers as the weather just doesn't want to warm up. We have a 75x75 garden space and anxious for the gardening time.
