We just ordered our flower seeds yesterday - we will start sowing in seed trays end February.

No, DD is the gardener here. Must have inherited it from Mom because I hate gardening. Plant a few flowers that come back every year and forget it. DH likes to plant a vegetable garden but then he wants me to take care of the weeding, hoeing, harvesting and canning. I had so much of that as a child I don't want to do it anymore. We had such a big family that dad used an 8 row field planter to plant sweet corn and green beans. He'd plant 8 rows of each, wait two weeks and plant 8 more of each and then two weeks later he planted 8 more. That along with all the other things that mom and us kids planted our gardens were huge. Then there was also grandma's garden to help with. . . . .

Oh, yes, I am...drooling over them, in fact. My DH built me a seed starting system too!!! it has two 24x48" shelves with lighting! oh glory--I will be planting parsnips (last year was first time for them and delicious does not start to describe them). As always, tomatoes--cherry, roma, and for salad. Lettuces galore, including arugula. Peas, green beans, zucchini, beets, nasturtium, and more. Then, the flower beds, perennial and for baskets. I keep telling our Mother Earth to sleep well and be ready for spring!

I got the Burpee catalog. I am saving it for next week.

Leafing through the seed catalogs and dreaming of spring-- that's one of my methods of coping with winter blahs. Quilting is another of my methods. Seems that I respond with joy to the pops of color that both fabrics and gardens give me.

It's raining and mid 50's here this morning! was just sitting out in my garage with the doors up looking at 1 of my gardens and several areas that I have flowers. I have 3 garden areas( live in country ) so I get to grow whatever comes to mine. Am cutting down on flowers this year.Still love the prennials but getting away from pots/ beds of flowers everywhere. It is working me to death. I just got my strawberrys and aspargus strawed 2 wks ago. Have been studying a Jungs Catalog way to much.lol Quilts r wonderful but gardening first love.

I love having a garden, (have always had one) but two years ago the deer ate everything. They even ate the tomatoes just as they were getting big, but still green. They'll even eat my flowers by the house. Last year we seeded the garden over, after 30 years, because it wasn't worth fighing the deer. I must say the venison is pretty tasty.
